👤 Learner Profile & Goal
Learner: Adult Romanian speaker, 1-to-1 lessons.
Level: completed A1 foundations, entering A2.
Goal: confident everyday English — describing life and habits, travelling (booking, hotels, restaurants), short emails, and simple spontaneous conversation.
Format: weekly live session (~60–90 min) with an interactive HTML lesson + homework (the lesson's writing task).
🧭 Method
- Bilingual scaffolding — Romanian support in every lesson, gradually reduced as level grows.
- Contrast with Romanian — explicitly teach where English differs (articles, one-negative rule, two present tenses).
- Both-direction translation — RO→EN for production, EN→RO for precision.
- Task-based role-play — realistic websites and scenarios (SunAway, StayWell) to make language purposeful.
- Writing every lesson — 80+ words with self-checking requirement lists.
- Recycling — every lesson deliberately reuses earlier grammar (e.g. Present Continuous re-activates "to be").
⏱️ Standard Session Structure (60–90 min)
5 min
Warm-up chatSmall talk in English only: the week, the weather, plans. No corrections yet — fluency first.
10 min
Homework review + recyclingReview the writing task; then 2–3 quick RO→EN sentences from the previous lesson (spaced repetition).
15–20 min
New languageTheory sections of the HTML lesson, teacher-led. Student reads examples aloud; drill pronunciation with the 🔊 buttons.
15–20 min
Guided practiceInteractive exercises together. Student explains why an answer is right — not just what.
10–15 min
Communicative taskRole-play, survey, dialogue, or website mission — speaking without reading from the page.
5 min
Wrap-upStudent summarizes what they learned (in English). Set homework: the lesson's writing task + reread the reading passage aloud once.
Error log: keep a running note of recurring mistakes (e.g. missing articles, "can to…"). Start each month with a 5-minute "greatest hits" review of the log.

📈 Assessment & Checkpoints
- Every lesson: the progress bar score inside each HTML lesson (aim: 80%+ before moving on).
- Every session start: 2–3 recycled RO→EN sentences from the previous lesson.
- After lesson 10: Module checkpoint — 15-minute conversation using only Modules 1–3 language (a "hotel + habits" scenario works well).
- After lesson 18: A2 checkpoint — role-play exam simulation: introduce yourself, describe your routine, tell a past story, book something, make a plan.
📚 Homework Policy
- The lesson's writing task (the checklists make requirements self-checking).
- Read the lesson's reading passage aloud once, using the 🔊 button to compare pronunciation.
- 10 vocabulary items from the lesson into a notebook (EN + RO + one example sentence).
- Optional immersion: revisit the practice websites and "shop" for a different holiday or room.
Writing is reviewed at the start of the next session — correct together, and add recurring errors to the error log.
🧰 Using the Materials
- Student hub: index.html — send the whole folder to the student; they open this file. Progress ticks are saved on their device.
- In the live session: share your screen (or send the lesson file) and work through it together; the student re-does the exercises alone as revision.
- Audio: the 🔊 buttons use the browser's built-in voice (works offline; best voices in Edge/Chrome/Safari).
- Lessons 8–15 add new exercise types: listening discrimination, dictation, word-order and story-order builders, matching games, flashcards, the -ed/-ing/irregular "machines", price listening, live-checklist writing, and website scavenger hunts (StayWell hotel, La Terrazza menu).
