Last lesson you learned was/were. Now, all the other verbs! For regular verbs, the past is simple: add -ed. And the best news since "can": the form is the same for every subject. No -s, no exceptions.

In negatives and questions, did carries the past — so the main verb goes back to its base form.

✅ She didn't work. ❌ She didn't worked.
Short answers: Did you play? → Yes, I did. / No, I didn't.
