Legend: Green = irregular past forms   Orange = story connectors  ·

Last Tuesday, Ana came home from school at four o'clock. She said hello, as always — but Mici didn't come. The flat was silent. Too silent.

First, Ana looked in the kitchen, where Mici usually sleeps in the afternoon. Nothing. Then she went to the bedroom and looked under the bed. No cat. She got really worried. Next, she called Radu. "I can't find Mici! I looked everywhere!"

Radu came in ten minutes. He had an idea: "The washing machine! She slept there once, remember?" They ran and opened it — empty. After that, they searched the balcony, the wardrobe, even the fridge. Nothing.

Finally, Ana saw something orange on top of the bookshelf, between two plants. Mici! The cat opened one eye, said "miau", and went back to sleep. Ana gave her dinner and made herself a big cup of tea. "Cats!" she said. "Never again!" (It happened again the next week.)
